It is incredibly disheartening when you do ALL the readings, attend every class period, and complete and study the study guide and you still do worse than you did on the last test. There were five or so questions I thought I wasn't sure on and made my best guess. Apparently I was wrong.
But the guy next to me is playing Pokemon on his computer. That's something, right?

Red Lights at Night...
Jainie works late on Wednesdays and she managed to convinced me to wait for her after my last class. For over two hours. Just look how nice I am.
On our dark drive home, after successfully navigating the line-less section of the freeway, our conversation turned to scary things. I told her what I think about ghosts (or what people think are ghosts) and she told me about skinwalkers. After a significantly creepy story about an old woman chasing cars on all fours and then running herself off a cliff, I was a little wigged out. As a nice touch, we finished that story just as we drove by the cemetery in our neighborhood.
Then, things got WEIRD. We topped the hill and I glanced out the window. The sky at night is beautiful and I like to look at it. What I wasn't expecting to see as I glanced up was aliens. That's right, ALIENS. A bright, flying object first caught my attention. As my eyes followed its path, they were led to these strange red dots. They just sat there, hovering, solid red without any flashing.
(My paint skill aren't so great, forgive me)
"Jain, it's aliens! There are aliens!"
"Too bad I'm driving and can't look," she replied. Obviously, the thing to do when your older sister says she sees aliens is to pull over immediately and look. She did no such thing, so I suggested it.
"They're dropping things!" I had to exclaim next as glittery packages fell from the red lights. The things they dropped looked just as big as the red lights themselves and they kind of flickered as they fell. Then, what looked like to me a third of the way to the ground, they just disappeared.
We watched for a little while and then realized our family NEEDED to see this. So we drove home, chatting excitedly about how we were seeing UFOs. Due to the lack of straight roads near the house, that piece of sky was briefly out of sight. When we turned again, I immediately looked for the lights and was shocked. "They've moved!" I guess I wasn't expecting them to actually move. We got home and rushed inside, news practically bubbling off our lips, only to find most everyone outside watching the lights. Dad saw the same thing on his way home and got everyone, minus the youngest, who was in the shower, outside to see.
We joined in, watching the red lights drift around, dropping whatever it was they had. Jain rushed to one of the TVs and turned on the news. Nothing. Dad and that guy called my brother, tried to take pictures. I'm not sure how successful they were. Whatever we were watching, they weren't any sort of aircraft I know of. Intrigued, and a little freaked, we watched them, drifting around into new positions and dropping bright, glittering...things, until they moved too far away to see.
While there probably is a perfectly normal explanation, I don't know it. Therefore, I'm going to stick with my first assumption: ALIENS.

Why?
Why can't I find good pictures of mammals? (And by mammals, I mostly mean rodents. Come on, there are more rodents than any other mammal type!)
Why do things take so long to load on YouTube?
Why does that Kangta song take a long time to load EVERY TIME I try to listen to it?
Why do I like that song so much that I suffer through the long loading time?
Why do people take naps wound about each other in public?
Why can't I think of a good animal behavior project?
Why is my spelling in Korean and English at about the same level? (I took a vocab quiz in Korean today and I'm pretty sure I spelled something wrong in English.)
And what exactly does MBLAQ want me to tell to their Y?

My mom, Korean version
Today I watched a Korean movie called Stay-at-Home Mom Kim Kwang Ja's Third Gathering. It's about a Korean mother who gets a little obsessed with a boy band, and one of the boys in particular. It's the story of my mom!
Back when Liz first introduced us to wonderful Super Junior, Mom was in India. When she came home, all we would listen to was kpop. Did she like it? No. On the way to California, we would listen to a few songs and then she would say, "That's enough," and change it to something else. Now, all she listens to is kpop. When she cleans the kitchen, she must listen to "Cooking? Cooking!"
Kwang Ja has her own song:
Cleaning the whole house while listening to a boy band when she's in her forties? Might seem a little out there, but it happens, especially at my house. It was just too funny to watch that show and see how much they are alike! And the movie itself is pretty funny.
I must say though, seeing Bonamana on the shelf next to "Jin's Group's" new CD was exciting for the fan girl in me. Even though it was blurry, I'd recognize that funny orange colored cover and Eunhyuk anywhere!

Kimchi: A Cautionary Tale
With all of the Korean mania going on at my house, it is only natural that we should have a jar of kimchi in the fridge. If you have no idea what kimchi is, I will enlighten you. It is spicy, somewhat fishy, kinda smelly cabbage. It's pretty strong, but I like it. During one of our little parties in Korean class in November, one girl brought something along the lines of a kimchi omlette. It was kimchi mixed with eggs and then cooked on the stove and man was it good!
Yesterday I decided to make one for lunch. I got out our little jar of kimchi, forked out some cabbage and chopped it up. Then I needed to move the jar. Why I picked that thing up I simply cannot remember. With it in my hands, I moved away from the counter (again, why?) and it began to slip from my grasp. A horrifying image of slimy cabbage and red cabbage juice all over the floor filled my head as I tried to avoid dropping the jar. I managed to get my hand over the counter/stove, the junction where the two meet, just in time. The jar hit the counter/stove rather hard and flung kimchi juice onto the surrounding area. And into my face, my face and my unfortunately open eyes.
Now I've had a lot of things done to my eyes. In fact, earlier yesterday, we went to the optometrist, who put burning dilation solution into our eyes. That stuff hurts but it was nothing on the kimchi. My eyes immediately started to burn, the pepper in the kimchi NOT doing nice things, and making distressed noises, I hurried to the sink. I had to take my contacts out in order to flush my eyes and in order to take out my contacts I had to wash my hands, especially after that kimchi catastrophe. The delay made panic a little but I got my hands clean and my contacts out. I spent the next several minutes flushing my eyes. They kept burning and burning. Finally my right eye, the eye that got hit the worst, no longer felt like someone made a mini campfire on my eyeball. The fire in my left eye on the other hand refused to go out. After a few more minutes of attempting to douse the pain, I gave up and turned off the water, hoping the burning would go away on its own. Later, while putting contact solution in my eye, I noticed a small piece of pepper sitting in the corner of my eye. The culprit was found! With that evil little thing removed, the last remaining pain went away.
Moral of the story: be VERY careful when using kimchi. It hurts like heck if you get it in your eyes.

This is me
Since I'm approaching the end of my schooling, friends have decided to up and leave me (Liz, I'm looking at you!). So with encouragement from some of them, I now have a blog so we can be "blog buddies." Sweet.
As you have noticed, the title of my blog is...a little odd. It was Jain's idea, since I can't come up with anything. "It's a random thought!" she tells me and because I have no concept for this whole deal (unlike my mother's themed blog), I guess it works. So no, this is not a pokemon centric blog. But don't be surprised if they do make an appearance. Yes, I am that much of a geek. And like Liz and my mom, there is a very good chance Asian men, most likely Korean, will show up here. Actually, it's pretty much a guarantee. Also, I'm definitely showing off things I make. Just so you know.
So Liz and Lauren, here's my blog!
